The tool stack for selling your own work online

The tools I use to sell my own photography from Japan to the US, written up one at a time as I adopt them.

Seven steps, in the order I set them up for my own print shop. Each step has one article that compares the tools I looked at and says which one I picked and why. Steps without a link are still being written — I publish each one after I have used the tool, not before.

  1. Show the work

A portfolio site that also handles client galleries and print sales.

Article coming once I have used it.

  2. Make the physical product

Print-on-demand for wall art, so no inventory and no packing.

Article coming once I have used it.

  3. Make the listing images

Mockups that show a print on a wall instead of a flat file.

Article coming once I have used it.

  4. Sell it

A storefront for digital downloads and prints without marketplace fees.

Article coming once I have used it.

  5. Keep the buyer

Email that follows up on carts and repeat purchases.

Article coming once I have used it.

  6. Reach people

Scheduled social posting so publishing does not eat the week.

Article coming once I have used it.

  7. Measure

Analytics that say which posts actually sent buyers.

Article coming once I have used it.
